Hopefully, you’re managing to wind down a bit over the festive break and enjoy some family time.
The BGA is continuing to succeed on its objectives, with over 60 shoots being audited and many more lined up before the end of the season. There has been a lot learnt and many improvements made from food safety to relevant record keeping; all of which reinforces the relationship between the game sector and food world.
We are very pleased to have some noticeable names support the BGA as Ambassadors, from Lord Mark Price (Ex-MD of Waitrose and Minster for International Trade and Investment) to Ian Coghill (Ex-Chairman of the GWCT). Their knowledge, contacts and understanding are unrivalled in their sectors and we look forward to working with them next year to deliver what we set out to do. We are working with some very exciting household brands on product development to get game on the retail shelves for next season and look forward to sharing these with you next year. We continue to acquire some big names, new to game, looking to stock BGA Assured product for next season, such as the Marriot Hotel Group, My Fish Company and Grosvenor Pubs, which is fantastic! See more here.
We have employed an experienced Export Sales Manager who will be focused on driving game sales across the globe along with a Head of Marketing who will ensure our Eat Wild campaign engages with the British public, utilising celebrity chefs and influencers, specifically in the health and fitness world, taking advantage of games’ superior nutritional benefits. Having built a qualified and driven team we are in a very good position for next year. I also met with Thérèse Coffey, the DEFRA minister to discuss the sale and promotion of game, as seen here.
Please take a look at our updates below, some of which are very handy such as a working summary of the Wild Game Guide to help shoots understand the law about what regs etc they should be abiding by. If you would like more regular updates on the BGA and our successes, I would urge you to follow us on social media; Instagram, Twitter, Facebook.
As ever, the BGA can only continue to do the great work it does if supported by the shooting community. A big thank you to the nearly 375 member shoots that have signed up so far, if you’re not a member yet, your support is needed, no matter how small the shoot may be. You can register your shoot here, finally, I would kindly ask you to encourage your shoot contacts to join this movement.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Tom
