November Newsletter

Great British Game Week is upon us! Monday raises the curtain on the annual celebration of everything excellent about game meat, and there is much to celebrate.

Last month we finally revealed some of the major commercial successes achieved in the game meat sector over the last three years, building towards a market in which everyone can find BGA game wherever they shop. This month we are asking everyone to join us in celebrating those amazing products, as well as the game you harvest for yourself.

We want to know what game you are eating, where you found it, how you are cooking it or how the chef cooked it for you. Tag us on social media, or email us directly and we’ll share on your behalf. We will be cooking up some creative game dishes at home as part of the Game4Spice tour of India, hosting foodie influencers to tell them all that’s great about game, and attending the BBC Good Food Show in search of new game consumers.

One team who will be celebrating game, not just next week and not just in Britain, is the Combined Services Culinary Arts Team. BGA has been working with the military for some time now, and it is great to see the CSCAT marking this relationship by putting Assured Game on the map at next year’s Culinary World Cup.

Finally for this month, as we celebrate all that’s great about game we must keep working to make sure our meat remains one of the most sustainable options on the shelf. To that end we have launched a Vet Register, to create a database of proper game vets that we recommend all registered shoots and game farms work with. The register has been created in consultation with vets across the country, and is open to all vets who can demonstrate their commitment to the care of gamebirds.  Of course we all have a role to play in bringing top quality game to the table. This Game Week let’s double down on our efforts to look after all shot game and treat it like the premium product it is.

Have an excellent Great British Game Week!

Best wishes,

Liam
