Standards Consultation

We require your input in a review of the BGA Standards as part of our Consultation

We are undertaking the most comprehensive review of the BGA Standards, and we would like your input. The purpose of the BGA Standard is to represent our community’s values by documenting best practice, underpinned both by the most recent science and by practitioners on the ground. To ensure the Standard represents your view of best practice, we need your help.

This review will be the most detailed to date. Our certification body SAI Global will be undertaking their own independent review, using their years of experience auditing farm assurance schemes to see where the Standard can be made more user-friendly and practical. At the same time, Technical Working Groups comprised of our Advisory Committee members and partner organisations such as GFA, BASC and GWCT will be performing their own review.

The third workstream, and arguably the most important, is a public consultation. We want to hear from you if you have any views to share on any of our Standards. You can find them all here, including lowland, upland and game farming.

Perhaps you have experience of the audit to share, or you have concerns about the Standard that are keeping you from signing up. Now is the time to tell us all about it. Defra is asking all shooting interests to sign up to BGA, to protect a sustainable future for shooting. Getting the Standards absolutely right for our sector is crucial in assisting as many shoots and game farms get on board as possible, and your response to this consultation could help make that happen.
