Wales and Scotland Covid-19 Restrictions on Social Gatherings

Further information for those in Scotland and Wales.

15 September 2020

Following the flurry of activity surrounding the new restrictions on gatherings in England, and the resulting press interest today, we have received a lot of questions from members regarding the regulations in Scotland and Wales.

In Scotland, gatherings are restricted to groups of six from a maximum of two households, and so these rules must be adhered to during any hospitality before or after a shoot day. During the day itself however, the Scottish Government has exempted “services or activities that are already exempt from these restrictions and have been permitted to open subject to their own guidance such as organised sport”. As such shoot days can continue in Scotland under the strict COVID-safe guidance you can read here.

In Wales, gatherings indoors are restricted to six people from one household or extended household (see the rules for forming an extended household here). This rule must be observed at all times during a shoot day, with social distancing enforced between the groups. Outdoors groups of up to 30 continue to be permitted, as long as social distancing is maintained. You can find the full Welsh Government guidance here.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
